An evening viewing of the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings/Farm exhibit and "The Yearling" film

A special evening viewing of The Year of The Yearling Exhibit will be at the Matheson Museum at 7 pm followed by an outdoor showing of The Yearling at the adjacent Matheson Sweetwater Park. Presented on a huge outdoor screen, join us in viewing the 1946 classic film staring Gregory Peck, Jane Wyman and Claude Jarmon, Jr. The Yearling is the story of a boy and his pet deer, set in the Florida scrub. The film is very faithful to the book and a beautiful experience on its own, nominated for 9 academy awards and winning 4 including a special child actor award for Claude Jarmon, Jr. Bring your blankets and folding chairs and join us in watching this special movie experience. From April 2013 to April 2014, events will be held in various locations from the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park to the George A. Smathers Library at the University of Florida to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the publication of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings's classic, The Yearling. The events are co-sponsored by the George A. Smathers Libraries
